When all the other 5 year olds in Minnesota were out in the snow making snow men, Jone was designing floor plans and furniture in the snow. It's in her blood and a focus in her life.
Jone Pence, ASID, CID. Has been an Interior Designer for over 20 years. Jone studied Fine Arts at California State University and Interior Design at UCSB. Before establishing her own Design Firm in 1989, she worked for several years in the television advertising industry, first as a principal of her own television production company in Hollywood, California then as a producer for a large advertising agency in San Francisco. Jone is a California State Certified Interior Designer (C.I.D.) and a professional member of American Society of Interior Designers (A.S.I.D.). Jone is also a state licensed general building contractor.
Jone works on both residential and commercial design projects, but specializes in custom home and residential remodel projects. Her design of a bathroom-remodeling project won the prestigious Renaissance '90 Award, which is sponsored by Remodeling Magazine and the National Association of Home Builders (NAHB). Jone was also honored with the Grand Award in the International Spectrum Tile Competition sponsored by the Ceramic Tile Distributor's Association (CTDA). Her winning design was featured in over 30 national publications and trade journals and was selected by Latco, the tile manufacturer for their national tile ad campaign. Jone's custom cabinetry design for a 6,000 ft. custom home project is featured in the national catalogue for Decore-ative Specialties, a worldwide cabinetry manufacturer. Two of her Design Projects have been published in the hard cover book; Designing with Tile, by Carolyn Coyle, Publisher; Van Nostrand Reinhold, 1995. Jone was Chairman of the American Society of Interior Designers (A.S.I.D.) Tri-County Area Group Chapter with over 120 interior designers. In 1998 she headed up the ASID Community Service Project called "Design Aid/Palm Street Project", which helped refurbish a 1911 Craftsman home where Aids Care Home resided.
Jone has been a participant in the Ventura New West Symphony Design House for 12 years. She is a member of many local and national professional organizations. Jone was appointed by the Ventura City Council to be a professional member on the Design Review Committee for the City of Ventura and is a professional member of the American Planning Association. She taught Color Theory and Design Application for the two year Interior Design Certificate program at University of California Santa Barbara. She has been a featured guest on the Home & Garden Television Network, (HGTV) a 24-hour cable television station with an audience of over 80 million viewers.
